Attack on the First Amendment
If there is an Attack on the First Amendment you can be sure it is either the Federal Elections Commission or the ACLU involved. This time it's the FEC once again involved in attempting to regulate speech.
Online political expression should not be exempt from campaign finance law, the House decided Wednesday as lawmakers warned that the Internet has opened up a new loophole for uncontrolled spending on elections.How did your representative vote?
The House voted 225-182 for a bill that would have excluded blogs, e-mails and other Internet communications from regulation by the Federal Election Commission. That was 47 votes short of the two-thirds majority needed under a procedure that limited debate time and allowed no amendments.
The vote in effect clears the way for the FEC to move ahead with court-mandated rule-making to govern political speech and campaign spending on the Internet.

At least this may provide a vehicle for getting the Incumbent Protection Act back before the Supreme Court with Roberts and Alito aboard...and, if we're lucky, a replacement for Stevens.

We do not need any more protection acts period that water down the First Amendment! Take a look at Europe now where speech that is deemed hate speech can land you in prison. And this hate speech is merely questioning an ethnic group and their abusive use of power. I will not mention any group for fear of hurting someone's itsy bitsy feelings. The stupid libersal are going to ruin this country just like Europe has been turned into a wimp nation. Take a look at France right now because of a lack of discipline against youth gangs in the black muslim neighborhoods, Paris has complete chaos now. Canada ditto! Germany is starting to show some get tough on crime. We cannot be a strong nation and play this game of political correctness, touch feely and everything else that goes with this type of governance. If a group of people is contrary to what the norm is in society, those of us that are opposed to their life style should always be allowed to our right to speak out against them!
