This is sad, but not surprising. Study: One in 1,000 Know First Amendment
There is a brouhaha in Chicago over an Alderman's proposal to name a street after a Black Panther who advocated killing police officers. At least we can count on the mayor providing leadership on the issue, right? Wrong.
Richard M. Daley didn't want to touch the controversy for fear for alienating black voters. "Everybody has a right to name things. . .. I don't go down the list. . .. There's so many of them. . .. We've got honorary after honorary. We've got some [streets] that have five names. . . . You see these honorariums going in every day now," Daley said, calling the designation a "local matter."
Paul Hackett has an op-ed which touches on what I think is the biggest problem with politics, the Culture of careerism. I don't agree with Hackett on many issues but fully concur with his disgust with the system.
Bruce Bartlett wrote a very critical book about the Bush administration, "Impostor: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy." In the Washington Times today he explains his main disagreements with President Bush. While I think the title of his book is inflammatory and over the top, I can't argue with his points. In several areas, the president has abandoned conservative principles.
A Washington TV station is running a feature on Secretary of State Rice's workout routine. Video of the first segment of the three part series at the link.
Rice gets up at 4:30 a.m. every day, and no matter where she is in the world, she gets in a workout.
Remember, a woman scorned is a scary thing indeed.
A woman bit a man's ear off Tuesday afternoon outside of the Milwaukee County Courthouse, police said. The couple had just left court over a paternity suit.
