Worst U.S. President Ever?
I Nominate Jimmy Carter. No, this time it isn't me saying that. Rather that is the title of an article in a Canadian newspaper.
Jimmy gets heaps of credit for having negotiated a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. It involved Israel returning the Sinai to Egypt. This was celebrated with the Islamist assassination of Anwar Sadat, the Egyptian President who signed the deal.Read the rest, it's a pretty good reminder of why we should ignore his current utterances about the world scene.

Jimmy Carter is certainly up there, but it's hard to beat James "Fiddling While the Republic Burns" Buchanan. Never before nor since has a President come so close to literally destroying the nation.

Buchanan's failures leading up to the Civil War merit strong consideration. However, the wheels had been in motion towards the showdown between the North and South since the nations inception. Also Buchanan stopped being a problem after he left office.
