Reason 5,347 why Michigan is going broke
Michigan continues to serve as a cautionary tale about the harmful effects of excessive government taxing and spending. I can only hope Ohioans are watching and learning. Here is the latest and most blatant example:
We have come to the conclusion that the crisis Michigan faces is not a shortage of revenue, but an excess of idiocy. Facing a budget deficit that has passed the $1 billion mark, House Democrats Thursday offered a spending plan that would buy a MP3 player or iPod for every school child in Michigan. What!?

i saw this story as well.
everytime you think you have seen the most ridicolous story ever, you realize you havent. Michigan is such finanical trouble, yet they reelected both Stabenow and Granholm in 2006. Go figure.

I'm simply not patient or benevolent enough to waste my time reading a news story this breath-takingly dumb, but thanks for the link to it, anyway. You're just doing your job. I guess my only question would be how they might expect to pay for it (apart from raising taxes, of course).
I suppose I can now enter the license plate slogan contest here in Indiana with a new submission: Thank God for Michigan.
