Ney drops out of fall race
I have one question for Bob Ney. Why did you take so long to make this decision? I'm not presuming guilt, but Rep. Ney knows whether he did something wrong or not and has known for months that his connections to convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff would be a major campaign issue. Waiting until now changes this congressional seat from being a safe Republican retention to a toss up in November.

Bill, I would say he waited because Ney like many politicians are wholly selfish. All that counts is power and reelection.
How different would the political landscape be if elected officials didn't interact with each other and only voted for the good of the country?

I agree with Bob but would expand it. He kept hoping his poll #'s would improve. He finally realized that he would lose so he dropped out. Like Rudy did against Hillary 6 years ago. When she widened the gap from 5% to 12% over him his "cancer" forced him to drop out.
Politicians tend to be very selfish and overly (in my opinion) concerned with face.

Sadly you're both right on target. I'm sure this trait is tied to what drives people to enter politics in the first place - ego, greed, etc.
