Dentist: I Don't Have to Pay Taxes

Here is an article about a dentist in Florida who refuses to pay taxes.
Federal prosecutors say Dr. Nancy Montgomery-Ware didn't pay taxes on more than $1 million in income in 2000 and 2001, and didn't file federal income tax returns in 2002, 2003, and 2004, when she earned between $500,000 and $730,000 per year.

She was indicted in April by a federal ground jury on two counts of tax evasion and three counts of failing to file an income tax return. If convicted, she could have to trade her lucrative dental practice for up to 13 years in a federal prison.
Okay, Nancy let me know how that works out for you. The best part of the article is where she talks about representing herself in court:
"It's been a challenge. I really don't know what I'm doing," she said. "The odds are stacked against you. Everything I've put in is based on the rules of the court and they wouldn't let it in."

She hasn't filed a federal income tax return since 1999, she said, after "doing my own research and gaining new understanding that really there is no such thing as a U.S. citizen."
Who is crazier? Her for thinking she would win this case or people who let this nut put her fingers in their mouth?

Senator Craig, it's time to resign

By now everyone knows about Senator Craig (R-ID) and his extracurricular activity that got him arrested in June. Evidently, he attempted to pick up a guy in an airport public restroom. It was his misfortune to have picked an undercover policeman to make his clumsy move on. I don't particularly care if Craig is gay, bi-sexual, confused or whatever. I do care that a United States Senator has such poor judgment and so little self-control. I won't bother addressing whether staking out restrooms looking for guys sending the toe-tap signal is good use of limited police manpower. Also, I'll leave it to the Libertarians to argue whether the behavior in question should be illegal. My main concern is a senator with such poor judgment. With a population of one and a half million people, Idaho should be able to do much better.

Speaking of should be able to do better, Editor & Publisher is asking a key question of the journalism profession: "How Did News Outlets Miss Senator's Arrest for Nearly Three Months?"

Blog Posting

Time constraints have kept me from blogging on a regular basis the last month or so. Either I had time and nothing really interested me enough to bother or I had various ideas and no time to prepare a post. Anyways, some of the issues have been alleviated (okay, okay, they're back in school) so I'll be posting more frequently. Additionally, instead of long verbose entries, I'll attempt to draft shorter more concise posts on items of interest so I can post more often.

Can the Michael Vick story get any stranger?

Just when I thought the Michael Vick dog fighting story couldn't get any goofier I stumble upon this article.
Embattled NFL quarterback Michael Vick, facing federal charges related to his alleged participation in dogfighting, has been hit with a "$63,000,000,000 billion dollar" lawsuit filed by a South Carolina inmate who alleges the Atlanta Falcons star stole his pit bulls and sold them on eBay to buy "missiles from Iran," The complaint also alleges that Vick would need those missiles because he pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda in February of this year. “Michael Vick has to stop physically hurting my feelings and dashing my hopes,” Riches writes in the complaint.
Riches wants $63 billion dollars “backed by gold and silver “ delivered to the front gates to the Williamsburg Federal Correctional facility in South Carolina. Riches is an
